This is a reminder to all water customers to check the water service inside your property, the water pipes in your home, sinks, showers and toilet for leaks. Running toilets can add up to thousands of gallons of treated water wasted. check on empty houses, even if the water is looped. If you are unable to do this yourself, find a caretaker who can keep an eye on the water pipes. It is the customers responsibility to "take all reasonable precautions to protect all water facilities, the customer's and the City's , against cold weather to prevent freeze-up on the premises" McGrath Municipal Code 13.04.180. Frozen pipes thaw in March and April and have caused property damage if unattended.
