I started dispatch in McGrath dispatch in 2018. I think McGrath has been the birth place of many fantastic dispatchers. When I started they had already been talking about consolidating McGrath since 2015… When I worked in MCG I hated the idea of consolidating. Then I took a job in Fairbanks after Tok & Delta had consolidated and it totally changed my perspective on consolidation. It’s unfortunate that the jobs have been taken out of McGrath. I think it’s unfair to blame one person for this outcome when there were many people involved in this decision making. As much as it hurts to say, I’m glad the state is moving forward and I’m excited to see their dispatch standards, policies, and procedures will be consistent across the board. I know the CM in Palmer and she’s one of the best bosses I’ve had throughout my career. I think it’s funny that most of the people who talk crap about her, don’t even know her. Love or hate it that’s my opinion. I’ll cherish the memories I made in McGrath dispatch.
