Summer camps will be held again this summer in July. All proceeds will go towards camp expenses directly related to the youth. Last summer we had a record numbers of students attend camps: 36 teenagers for the second camp and a record number for the elementary aged camp.
What do we do with leftover donations?
Items in good working order that are sanitary to distribute are going to:
Tidal Wave Bookstore- numerous cases of books will be shipped into Anchorage and taken to tidal wave and all proceeds will go towards youth camps.
Once Upon a Child- baby clothes that were stain free and in good shape are being shipped into Anchorage and will go to this repurposing store. All proceeds will go to youth programming.
Surrounding villages-several patrons that attended the sale that have spent time in surrounding villages or reside or have resided in them expressed the need for specific items to be shared with those villages. Many boxes were packed and will be sent onto them-over 800 lbs of items.
Goodwill- some items will be shipped into Anchorage and will go to Goodwill
Stored for next years sale-Some totes of items are being stored for next years rummage sale.
If items are not usable, unsanitary, broken, or in poor condition, they go to the dump. For example- luggage that zippers do not work on, moldy items, dirty socks, clothes that are stained, shoes and boots that are worn out, old and cracked, non stick teflon type skillets that are scraped up so badly they are a danger to eat off of, and kitchen items that are broken, or worn out.
We treat items with great care and if it can be used, reused, or repurposed...it will be.
Thanks again for your support. Any questions please call or text Kellie and I'd be happy to chat about the event. 907-574-0398
