Re: Schubert violin sonatas (rev. CF)
Beethoven also did this right up to the 10th sonata, with very much lower billing for the violin in 1st editions of some of the earlier sonatas. Brahms has 'Pianoforte und Violine' in his three. Franck puts the violin first with his sonata, but I can't imagine at 1886 he would have been the first to do this.
