Mussorgsky, M.P.: Boris Godunov (Kipnis) (1943-1944)
It left an indelible impression. Over the passing years, I have listened to many recordings of Boris but on balance I feel Mr.Kipnis captures the sole of this Russian better than most. I love his rich voice still.
I don't qualify as an expert but either I have a tin ear or am unable to fully understand the nuances of this work. I don't see Mr. Kipnis mentioned as one of the greats in the role of Boris. 56 years later , I still enjoy Mr. Kipnis' Boris more than I can convey here.
