Beethoven boxes on Brilliant Classics.
Posted by Donald Clarke on January 9, 2018, 10:26 pm
There was a review of a box of over 80 CDs described as The Complete Beethoven (Brilliant Classics 95510) with the quartets played by the Suske Quartet. There was another similar box (93525) with the quartets played by the Guarneri (their second traversal, for Decca). I find this astonishing. Why should any record company put out two different big collections of any composer? I've always been fascinated by the label; their stuff was always hard to find in the USA, back when there were record shops. Has anyone written an article or a book about Brilliant Classics?
