In that case you tempt me to name a baker's dozen, Ralph. If I were forced to choose though, Puccini's Tosca remains a very firm favourite. I know it's often derided but a good cast still fills the seats of opera houses across the globe. It never seems to get a comprehensive review, probably because of the hegemony of the 1953 de Sabata La Scala recording with Callas, Di Stefano and Gobbi. I'm looking very forward to your Tristan and Isolde review having just added two further recordings to my collection recently.
