Thank-you for another great read. In the main I agree with your conclusions, although there are several in your list I have never heard. I'm quite enthusiastic for Verrett's version too - a pity the sound isn't great but it was after all live. I cannot share your enthusiasm for Bartoli's recording, although it has many distinguishing qualities, including the lady herself. I seem to like Jon (John?) Osborne more than you do. Isn't the recording quality wonderful too - almost like having a seat in the studio where it was recorded.
Callas 2 is the version I listen to most and I favour Sutherland's 2nd recording to her first on account of her improved diction and involvement, and for me any allowances for wear and tear on the voice still demonstrate that fabulous technique of hers.
