Yet, my impression from listening to the sound of the voice as the music progresses is that there has been no additional "boosting" of the voice during the louder episodes. In fact, at the point of maximum orchestral volume, Wunderlich's voice is almost (but not QUITE) merged into the general texture. In this respect, therefore, I must agree with Ralph.
Overall, this recording is no worse than - and a damned sight better than most - other studio recordings; the bottom line being that the engineer has done no more than the minimum to ensure that the singer is not swamped by the orchestral clamour. Would anyone have thanked him for doing anything other?
