Re: The Wizards of Oz
As ever, such lists will always contain that which is arbitrary or even baffling - viz. Elena Kats-Chernin, Nigel Westlake, Peter Sculthorpe. With all due respect to those composers, who might be fine, and an open admission of ignorance, how could I "not live without them" if I have never heard of them? Furthermore, such lists are an open invitation to smart Alecs (in this me) to pick holes in the selection, but I cannot conceive of such a selection which did not include Gluck, de Victoria, Taverner or Tavener, Boyce, Cherubini, Donizetti, Weber - and no doubt a good few more!
