Steve and Lee, I have been listening to the ROH "Carmen" with Verrett that was not included in my survey, and it is indeed notable for the vigour of her singing but also for Domingo's poor French and that of the children's chorus and some cast members - in such contrast to Thomas Allen's for example. It's in better sound than the RAI Roma live performance but Verrett is subtler there - she's something of a scary harridan in London - and I think the (mostly French) cast in general is better there, too. Still, it's certainly a valid recommendation; thanks.
