It is true that most listeners will hear this recording in stereo; but hearing it in surround is not the very rare experience that is sometimes implied by the dearth of multichannel reviews in mainstream, rather than specialist audiophile, publications! For instance, the typical home theatre installation for large-screen video watching is very often equipped for multichannel sound. All multichannel Blu-rays and some multichannel SACDs (depending on the player) will sound quite effective in the home theatre environment. The equipment and the opportunity to hear multichannel recordings as intended exists in the comparatively large installed base of home theatre. My bottom line in this is simply that MWI should offer those multichannel recordings a review, where possible, that evaluates that primary aspect of the release. This is potentially useful information for the MWI readership.
