I found Marc Rochester's review interesting, and informative in some ways, but I think he makes a curious omission: some famous names are listed whose presence goes entirely unremarked.
Bernard Herrmann is of course the well-known composer. He and Stanley Black conducted on some noted recordings for Decca, including for that label's Phase 4 series.
Did Bernard Herrmann really play flute? I haven't found mention of this elsewhere on the internet.
Alan Randall was a reputable jazz player, but from the late 1960s was widely renowned for his impression of George Formby.
