Is it my imagination or has British music CD releases ground to halt. I look back to the 1970s with Lyrita, the 1990s with major symphonic cycles from Alwyn, Bax, Stanford, Rubbra, Parry, et al. And then, whatever happed to Dutton Epoch. There used to be several releases on two or three occasions each year. Naturally, there are still CDs of British music being released. But are the halcyon days over?
As an an example, a glance at any listing of British Symphonies reveals that there is much exploration to be done.
