I thoroughly endorse RB's two Holbrooke choices as included in this list, but would sacrifice all the works he suggested for a recording of Holbrooke's operatic trilogy The Cauldron of Annwn - surely a disgrace that this major achievement by a British composer is only available as excerpts recorded in the first half of the last century, in orchestral excepts recorded in Eastern Europe and - for those lucky enough to have recorded it - in the excerpts from "Bronwen" broadcast by the BBC as part of the "Fairest Isle" series.
