It is a major loss that Lyrita never completed their series. I recall reading somewhere that when Lyrita's Sixth was first issued circa 1967 the Gramophone's Trevor Harvey gave the music itself a decidedly negative review. I was a youthful subscriber to the Gramophone at the time but have no recollection of his review. If the usually generous 'TH' couldn't appreciate this glorious music, did a review by him turn Gramophone readers (possibly including me) off Bax and cause Lyrita not to complete their series? If so, how unfortunate for Bax's cause at the time and for the foregone pleasures of his potential listeners.
