Can I just draw attention to one point? John mentions that "in his biography of the composer, Jeremy Dibble refers to no less than three a cappella Mass settings which Stanford composed in the last few years of his life, one of which was performed by the choir of Westminster Cathedral; it seems that all three are now lost".
I summarized what little is known of these Masses in this article http://www.musicweb-international.com/classrev/2022/Aug/Stanfordian-thoughts-16.pdf (scroll down to page 11) and stated my reasons for believing there were only two, not three. A purely academic point, of course, unless the scores actually turned up.
