Yes, absolutely. No country in the world takes such delight in issuing artistic manifestos and fighting over them (think of the first nights of Hernani, The Rite of Spring, etc.). But I suspect the vast majority of French concertgoers simply enjoy good entertainment regardless of its partisan position. French theatre companies nowadays stage both Racine and Victor Hugo, French musicians play both Fauré and Berlioz, and they all seem to get pretty good audiences!
