I am delighted that you have profited - except financially, of course - from the surveys, Terence and cannot argue with your exquisitely cultivated taste; those are indeed fine favourites - and while I appreciate your courtesy, please feel free to drop the"Mr Moore"! Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Mr Moore: You keep me busy, and broke. Since I started following your surveys, I have learned so much, but my couple of takeaways at the end of 2023: I was surprised how much I liked the Karajan Verdi Requiem with Timova-Sintow et al. It has a 'rightness'. I've come to admire Muti's as much as you do. And I was surprised that after so much listening, that I liked Te Kanawa's Marschallin and Haitink's conducting better than any - a shock to me... and the greatest find of all was Maazel's and Te Kanawa's La Rondine. Just right for Christmas with Act II and its Brindisi. Merry Christmas.
