I am trying to track down a recording of a 1984 revival done on an ambitious scale by BBC Radio 3. It was of Pushkin's play Boris Godunov complete with the full Prokofiev incidental orchestral music.
Does anyone here have a recording of that radio broadcast from 1984?
Here are the details:-
=============
Boris Godunov
BBC Radio 3
First broadcast: Thu 8th Mar 1984, 19:45 on BBC Radio 3
The first performance in [UK] ALEKSANDR PUSHKIN 'S historical drama, translated and adapted by D. M. THOMAS. Music (originally composed for a stage production in Moscow) by Prokofiev, performed by the BBC PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA and the HALLE CHOIR (men's voices) conducted by EDWARD DOWNES
All other parts are shared by CAROLE BOYD. MADI HEDD. STUART ORGAN. PAULINE SIDDELL. JOHN WEBB and other members of the cast. Solo singing coach
SIMON JOLY, Russian adviser RITA WEISSMAN , Music producer CLIVE BENNETT
Directed by JOHN THEOCHARIS
By the way, I am pretty sure it was repeated that same year.
I DO know that the incidental music has been recorded separately but I wanted to hear the music in the context of the full play, if possible.
Does anyone have this on tape or CDR?
