In case you missed, a new restoration of the 1949 Furtwangler/BPO live performance of the 7th popped up on YouTube recently. Sounds warmer and airier than the DG stream on Apple Music, at least to my ears.

Thank you very much for the kind words, Ian - I am so glad you find my amateur effusions helpful! You can read the most ignorant twaddle from Bruckner haters under some YouTube posts, so it's good you have found intelligent sources for guidance. I have found Thielemann's Bruckner to be very variable; sometimes he just seems unable to let go. Bruckner requires patience above all - but the rewards are great, I think. Previous Message
Mr Moore…I must thank you for your reviews of the many recent Bruckner Symphonies in the celebratory year.I have wrestled with bruckner for most of my musical listening life with real comprehension still a way off.In the recent book “Speaking Musically” edited by Raymond Holden there is a long chapter on Bruckner by Christian Thielemann that is a joy to read as are your perceptive reviews…so I am getting somewhere with a few of the symphonies…no complaints as the journey is fascinating. Also I admire your reviews of singers and their flaws or delights. Many thanks Ian Peake
