Sinding's complete symphonies
Posted by Rob Maynard on March 5, 2025, 6:02 am
My colleague Jonathan Woolf's excellent review of the new Norrköping Symphony Orchestra/Karl-Heinz Steffens recording of the Sinding symphonies (Capriccio C5540) is, in one respect, not quite accurate. This is not actually the first recording of all four works by a single orchestra and conductor, for the Norwegian Radio Orchestra/Ari Rasilainen recorded not only the first two, as Jonathan mentions, but numbers 3 and 4 as well. The complete set of four may be found in a single Finlandia Records box set (8573-82357-2). Used copies seem to be available quite cheaply: yesterday I found one on Amazon Marketplace for less than £2.00!
