I agree completely with the decision to award the new record of early madrigals from the Italian group Prattica di Musica a "Recording of the Month" banner. JV's expert review is a gem of a piece too. This is a really fine record indeed and I am wholly convinced by the textural decisions made to get these scores realised in all 4 parts, as well as the practical performance choices made by the group in terms of including lute, recorders, gamba or just going with voices alone. The performance of the Janequin piece with its call for the beloved to awaken, to various bird and outdoor twitterings and jabberings is just brilliant. Such a great recital of super rare but gorgeous music - and so great that from this month one may make these comments on the review page itself and interract with the write-up and perhaps share ones own impressions of the disc. Bravi tutti
