Well said. To me, most of the orchestral performances we hear today - even the ones which are not "historically informed" - are too uniform, smooth and predictable. Give me a conductor who challenges us - even if, in the end, some of us think he is wrong. So far, no one here has posted as short-list of contemporary conductors whom they would rate as the equal of the old school maestros. Why is that?
