Haydn Wood and the flute
Posted by Andras Adorjan on October 25, 2022, 6:58 pm
The flautist Andras Adorjan has written from Munich asking for assistance as follows:-
"I heard a hitherto unknown piece today by the for-me-hitherto-unknown composer Haydn Wood and as I liked it, I have been searching for him and his music on the internet.
"I read in one contribution that he has composed music for the flute. Being a flautist I would like to know something about this piece. Perhaps you can help me trace it?
"Also while listening to the "Dance of a whimsical Elf" from "A Day in Fairyland" I was quite astonished to hear such a strong similarity between this music of Haydn Wood and the Sextett for Piano and Winds, opus 6 (1888) by Ludwig Thuille (1861-1907)."
I would suggest contacting the British Light Music Library. They have by far the largest archive of this type of music. Haydn Wood was a very good and important composer of this genre of music so I would not be surprised if they can find what you are after. I assume it is the sheet music you are looking for. Good luck with your search
