Speaking of piano concertos has anyone heard the Beryl Rubinstein concerto-if not give it a listen and let us know what you think.

I read that Richard Adinsell surrounded himself with the scores of Rachmaninov's piano concertos when he was writing the "Warsaw" Concerto; I'd take a guess that the scores of Prokofiev's second and third piano concertos (and maybe Khachaturian's ) weren't far from hand when Beryl Rubinstein embarked on this concerto. The slow movement has more of a Bernstein/Copland feel about it but I was irritated by the irregular metres of the last movement because it's the sort of thing that sets me trying to work out (and usually failing to) how it's actually written rather than listening to the music as a whole. There's a lot of "Busy" writing (the soloist is certainly kept busy) in this piece but there's little, it seems to me, in the way of strong ideas that have given the Prokofiev, Khachaturian - and the Addinsell - a place in the repertoire.
Thanks for posting the link but it's not a piece I'm keen to hear again.
