Mengelberg's 1929 Tchaikovsky Fourth Posted by Steve Luciani on February 25, 2025, 1:09 pm If you're a fan of Mengelberg and this symphony, there's a wonderful new restoration available on the Private Reserve YouTube channel. The sound belies the age of this recording, made just 50 years after the work's premiere. So different from the way this symphony is performed today, I especially love Mengelberg's way with the andantino. A true "canzone".
