Weingartner's 1939 Brahms First Posted by Steve Luciani on April 24, 2025, 6:24 pm Listening to the excellent new restoration posted today on the YouTube 'Private Reserve' channel, I was surprised how straightforward and unmannered Weingarten's performance was. At over two minutes faster than Toscanini's 1952 Philharmonia performance on the same channel, I wonder if this is how Weingartner heard Brahms and Steinbach conduct this work?
