At any rate, the name "Trefil" especially is rare in this country and, even if you aren't sure if you're related, I can trace our family back three-hundred-years by name, "thanks" to them being forcedly settled by Empress Maria Theresa.
I am trying to find some distant relatives--the cousins of my great-grandparents, b. 1870 Tomas Trefil and b. 1875 Anna Hrebik Trefil, who came from Zborovice/ Kromeriz, Moravia and Milanov, Bohemia. I don't know what Tomas' cousins were named, but Anna had a sister--Ruzena--whose married name I don't know, but I think her daughter's name was either Anna or Barbora.
Tomas and Anna--(Anna was a widow whose first husband's name was Karel Stastney)--were married in Chicago and lived most of their lives there, but also had connections to Michigan and Florida. I think a lot of Tomas' cousins lived in Florida. Originally, the family was brickmakers, metalworkers, and day laborers.
