I am optimistic and strongly feel that Richard Rider will return with his own comic book series. There are events happening that involves Rider as Nova Prime right now that would contradict the idea that rider will be killed.
These include:
1. High involvement of the Nova Crops in the GotG movie as well as Rhomann Dey taking part in the movie.
2. After waiting for so long, players of the Marvel Heroes game can now play the Richard Rider as Nova Prime in the game. Marvel had been for a while reluctant to give the license to Richard Rider and instead only allow players to play Sam Nova in the game. However, most players spend money to buy Richard Rider and not Sam nova. Now Marvel is allowing players to play Richard Rider as Nova.
3. Rider as Nova Prime is quite popular in the Marvel vs Capcom game. This brings brand recognition and awareness to the character.
4. Merchandise involving Richard Rider includes the Marvel Dice Master as well as the highly popular Richard Rider Marvel Legends infinite figure shows just how popular Rider is.
I also want to add that while I was in K Mart, I saw a mother brought a school backpack that shows image of marvel superheroes that include Captain America, Spider Man, Iron Man, and Rider as Nova Prime for her kid.
5. Loyal fan base like us that that are making waves and noise to let Marvel know that we want Rider back.
I am sure there are other reasons that I have not listed that shows Richard will be back.
After all, good things come to those who wait.

: So I know we have all asked the question,
: "why bother doing a 3-part series on a
: character you are planning to leave
: dead?" It's a valid question, and maybe
: gives us some reason to hope for the best.
:
: In the preview pages for GotG 18 and the
: recent advance reviews, everyone has
: referred to Rich as Richard Ryder. So is
: this a lazy mistake, as some have claimed,
: or is this Marvel actually re-naming the
: character? There are CERTAINLY valid reasons
: to change the spelling of Rich's last name.
:
: Which begs the question, "why both
: re-naming a character you are planning to
: leave dead?"
:
: And yes, I realize he was never actually
: dead; but that certainly seems to be the
: Marvel conception of the events in TTI.

: We'll see soon I guess. I'm assuming it was
: too late for them to fix that spelling
: mistake before it went to the printers.
