I've never posted here before. I'm a long time Rich fan but I like Sam too and I did get Champions #1. I can't speak for the series in general but it was a very solid first issue. The first good issue 1 I've read in a while. It gives each character (sans Cyclops) an intro, gives them a bad guy to fight and some people to save and sets out what the book is about all in one issue. I find this refreshing as most first issues nowadays just serve as a prologue for six issue story arc. This is quite old school that it's a one and done story that sets up the rest of the series to run with the concept. At the same time it's very zeitgeist-y (if that's a word). So if superheroes checking twitter on their smartphones makes you facepalm yourself into unconciousness (just mild bruising in my case) you may want to give it a miss. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.
