You asked for memories. First, the store on Riverview: when I was quite young, probably about 5 or 6 years old, I was left in the car there during a rain and hail storm. After what seemed liek a very long time, I got out and peed on one of the tires, which made my mother quite unhappy. More recently, I remember K-Mart kicking in with a LOT of free gloves and hats for distribution at The Salvation Army's Christmas "shopping" period where families are provided food and gifts to give their young children. I know they have worked hand in hand with other local charities and those suffering catastrophic disasters, such as victims of fires with both outright contributions and large discuounts to those who wished to spend on behalf of the less fortunate. I only went in the current store about twice a year, but I think the community will miss that old familiar place a great deal. That's a seperate issue form what cold they have done better.
