When Kalamazoo had its WMU riots in September 2001 and March 2002, it was said that some of the instigators were from out of town. I heard the same sort of claim when East Lansing had their MSU riots in March 1999 and March 2003. It is as if there are a few people who travel the state starting riots for fun. I wonder if any of those people were involved in the second night (Tuesday) of the Benton Harbor riot, which was reportedly more destructive than Monday night? The March 16, 2002 WMU riot took place primarily on Euclid Street in the Knollwood Neighborhood. This week, Euclid Street was closed to traffic at West Michigan Avenue while the road out front of the riot house was dug up and some work was done (probably new utilities of some sort). The riot house and one or two other houses next to it have been razed and entirely new houses are being erected (the new houses may be pre-fabricated).
