I'll put my 2 cents in. These eps are not my favs, but I have to say I think Endora is simply gorgeous in that gown & I'd love to get a big pink pearl ring like that!!!
I was a big fan of the show The Tudors that ran on Showtime, so after watching the whole Tudors series, I did watch these 2 eps closer just to ck for similarities in names, dates etc. Not really a good comparison btwn the 2, but just thought I'd share. I'm a stay at home mom, just like Samantha!

I don't know, Sammy, the outfit may be gorgeous, but it's definitely not Tudor. More like 14th or 15th century, don't you think? That's always bugged me!
But she is an absolute HOOT with that quacking incantation!"Witches are good! Witches are dear!"

OK then, here's a question for everyone out there who knows period costumes. Are the costumes worn on BW for the period pieces, such as in this episode and others, an accurate representation of clothing worn for that period? I've often wondered about this but I don't really know that much about the subject.

Much of the Puritan clothing is inaccurate, from what I've been able to find. Apparently, few Puritans wore black clothing, as black dye was expensive and faded easily. Most fabric was dyed with what was available--vegetables, nuts, bark. Women would not be showing their below-the-neck area, nor their arms. Mop caps, I believe, came more into fashion in the next century. Bonnets were more in fashion in our Salem era (as in the "Maid of Salem" portrait). Funny, I always thought that one was inaccurate! More to come...

I agree Maurine! Endora's dress/costume wasn't very Tudor, but I still love it. Love all the info you had about period pieces! Interesting!!I'm a stay at home mom, just like Samantha!
