Nora Ephron

Nora Ephron, who penned the "Bewitched Movie" among other notable screenplays and novels, passed away from complications of leukemia last night.

Very sad.

Hi,
Yes I just read that and I'm so sad. I loved her movies.. I know they say Bewitched was a flop. But I still loved it.. and all her other movies.. Sleepless in Seattle, You got mail, First wives club, when harry met sally (classic).
I watch all those movies over and over everytime I see them on TV..

I'm with you, Liz Libby. The movie will always be special for me...as will so many others you mentioned. Oh, how sad. How very sad.

I agree. I loved all of her movies. I may have wished she had more control over the Bewitched script and not allowed Adam McKay to join the writing team, but I still consider the movie a valentine to the original show. I also really admired her as a writer. Very sad.

I was hoping you could elaborate on the Adam McKay issue. I'm curious to know how his addition would have changed the script. Thanks.

Well, Adam McKay made it more Will Ferrell-y (not a good thing in that movie), as he's Will's writer.

But, RIP Nora.

Adam McKay was brought in as part of the deal when Will Ferrell sign on. Many believe he was responsible for some of the crude humor about STDs and the line that no one noticed the difference when they replaced Darrins in the original, so the Samantha character could also be replaced. It is something fans of the show most certainly did notice, and although the character is supposed to be an out of touch, self-absorbed douche bag, lines like that just didn't have a place in the movie.
