How would you go about doing a Samanthaless episode?

The board has been pretty dead, and I've been trying to think of something to get it moving again.

I don't think this question has ever been posted.

We all Know Dick York missed several episodes and we know how they worked around them, but what would they have done if Elizabeth had to have time off? I would really like to read people's ideas for Samanthaless episodes. How would you explain her absence and what would your episode(s) story be?

What a great question!

We could have Tabitha whip up another of her "very own mommy"s, or Waldo can do the same. Serena can pop in for an adventure. The 'Maid of Salem' can make a trip to the future, or even Samantha's Great Aunt Cornelia can make an appearance! Have I forgotten anyone?

Finally, Elizabeth would get to take a vacation!

Samantha would get called away to a witch convention and Darrin would be alone with Tabitha and Adam with the help of Uncle Arthur, since warlocks weren't allowed to this particular convention.

After giving my own question some thought here is my idea. Sorry it's a bit long.

Darrin wakes up and finds a floating note from Samantha. The note explains she's been called away on important Queen or Witches council business.(depending on the season) She wanted to say good bye, but thought it was better to let him rest because he's been working so hard since Larry took Johnathan camping. The note goes on to say that she can not be reached (even by witches) under any circumstances.

When Gladys asks about Samantha Derwood simply says she's gone to viset her father.

A bored Louise decides to help out at the Stephens's home in Samantha's absence.

A series of innocent misunderstandings has Gladys believing Darrin and Louise are having an affair. Gladys demands to call Samantha and Darrin continues to state Sam has gone to see her father and can not be reached. Naturally Maurice shows up. When Glady's questions him he says he has no idea what she is talking about. This causes Gladys to suspect foul play.

Darrin explains the situation to Maurice.

A frantic Gladys is trying to convince Abner of everything she thinks went on when the phone rings. Abner answers and says "it's for you!" Gladys says to tell whoever it is to call back because she needs to call the police. Abner says she must take the call. When Gladys takes the phone she changes from panic to shock when she says "Oh hello Mrs. Stephens...". Gladys then has a one sided phone conversation. When she hangs up she says to Abner "Well I guess I was wrong, but I'm surprised that she would call her husband a dim bulb and an Albatross." The scene then cuts to Maurice hanging up the Stephens's phone. Darrin walks in and asks "What did you tell her?" Maurice says "The truth. I just left out the part about her being at the witch's council."

Interesting idea! I would make it season four, Samantha needs to be away for two days on Queenly duties. Serena couldn't be in the episode, nor anyone else who looks like Samantha, as EM would have time off the show, at least for that week.

Endora makes a bargain with Durwood that if he lets her take Tabitha with her for those two days, she'll stay away from their home for at least one month. Durwood agrees, reluctantly at first, then decides to take a business trip he had been putting off, to meet with a client.

Meanwhile, Tabitha and Grandmama have two days and one night to live it up and get into mischief. What should they do? Perhaps an excursion to the french riviera, where Tabitha can dig in the sand and build castles -- real castles?!

These ideas are great!

I was so close to my daddy, growing up in the 60s. Ever since seeing the Alpha and Orvis episode, where Darirn is playing with Tabitha and the spaceship, I've longed to see more interaction between Tabitha and her daddy.

How about an episode in Season 3 or 4 where Samantha actually does get to go to a cousin's wedding someplace distant, and her duties are extensive. Serena and Endora are called to duty as well, so for once, Tabitha stays home with Darrin, and we get to see an episode where Tabitha is the only witch on the premises.

That would be a nice new aspect of the Stephens family we never really got to see.

Thanks everybody for responding. I love everybody's ideas.
I too would love to have seen some Darrin/Tabitha bonding time. It would have been nice to see the sweeter side of Darrin more often. He could be a real jerk, and the tender scenes always helped balance things out.
