I Dream of Jeannie - '15 Years Later,' the 1985 Reunion Telefilm, is Coming to DVD Wayne Rogers fills in for Hagman with Barbara Eden, Bill Daily and Hayden Rourke in this Sony MOD release Posted by David Lambert 11/19/2012
The magical, enchanting genie 15 years later is trying to assert her independence and at the same time save her mortal marriage. Following the end of the regular series in 1970, there were two post-series TV movies made: "I Dream of Jeannie: 15 Years Later" in 1985, and "I Still Dream of Jeannie" in 1991. In the first, Barbara Eden returns as "Jeannie," but Larry Hagman was unavailable. So Eden, Bill Daily ("Roger Healy" and Hayden Rorke ("Dr. Bellows") are joined in this reunion telefilm by Wayne Rogers (M*A*S*H, House Calls) as "Tony Nelson." Mackenzie Astin (The Facts of Life; son of John Astin and Patty Duke, and brother of Sean Astin) played "T.J. Nelson," the son of Tony and Jeannie, and Dody Goodman (Grease; Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman) also had a role.
The Sony Pictures Choice Collection, which is Sony's MOD (manufacture on demand) program, announced today that it will release I Dream of Jeannie: 15 Years Later on DVD this January 1st, a single-disc release which appears to have just that first of the two reunion telefilms (i.e., there's no sign of 1991's I Still Dream of Jeannie; sorry!). As an MOD title, this won't be resold in retail stores, but only available online through Amazon's CreateSpace, WBshop's Warner Archives, and the like. Pricing and cover art haven't been provided yet, but stay tuned for updates!
