Happy Birthday, Dick Sargent

Today Dick Sargent would've turned 83 years old. I'm glad he was able to pick up the role of Durwood and give us three more seasons

With his birthday so close to EM's I wonder if they ever had a joint birthday celebration?

Ooh, cool idea! A joint birthday cake on the set, maybe?

Doc, I agree. Much as I loved Dick York, I am glad that we had those years with Dick Sargent and the new spin he gave to Darrin's character. I wasn't crazy about it initially, but he really grew into the character and became a believable husband for later years Samantha.

That would be interesting to know if they ever had a joint birthday party.

I didn't like Dick Sargent very much because I equated him with the decline in the quality of the show. But after watching the episodes with an open mind while writing the "40 Years Ago..." posts, I realized he was the scapegoat. It was more an issue with the writers and Liz's lack of enthusiasm.

As much I absolutely love Dick York, I must agree with you Dr. Bombay. It was not Dick Sargent's fault that the quality of the show decreased dramatically during the later years. What with the recycling of the scripts and Liz not wanting to be there in the first place.
