The good news is you may have heard by now that the whole series will be re-released on a DVD box set this fall, comprising 33 discs.
The bad news is that they are using the colorized versions for the first two seasons. That almost certainly means they're just taking what was previously released and re=packaging it - which means no extras, such as the correct musical openings to each season
The price is good for the set, but to be honest I'm very disappointed. Other series have had extras, such as original sponsor openings or cast commercials. We know this stuff exists because many of us have this in our own collections. Why Sony couldn't have used it is beyond me. I think they're just lazy and are looking to piece together the seasons as quickly and cheaply as possible.
Even if they couldn't have done it on every episode, couldn't they have at least done it on a couple of episodes per season to at least give us an example of how it originally aired?
"Bewitched" deserves this treatment, and considering the entire series is now coming out, it seems unlikely this will happen.
At least I've got a good number of episodes with original commercials and such which I guess I'll have to be happy with.
Again, I'm not buying anything until they do it right.
Sony is being really raggedy regarding Bewitched. Why on Earth would they re-issue the box set without all of the fun stuff? AND why in the world would they screw up the classic aspect of black and white only to present the first two seasons color? Ugh. Yep, I will pass as well.
