Bewitched's Most Visible Invisible Wire?

Been watching some of the latter-era episodes I usually avoid, as much for education as anything. I can't believe how visible the invisible wires are. Were TV's really so low-res in the early 70's that the wires were truly undetectible?

Here's Esmeralda babysitting in "Samantha's Magic Sitter". Notice the hole in the wall to her left and the wire that runs from it to somewhere off camera right. A moment later, a suction-tipped arrow rides this wire to the wall as though shot by the brat Esmeralda is reading to. The wire even casts a shadow!

I'm no expert, but it seems that a print pattern on the wall could have helped to hide everything. It's sloppy, I'm picky, or both.

I've just bought the complete box set of all the Bewitched episodes, and am watching it on an HD TV. I've noticed so many wires I didn't notice years ago.

The reason that you're seeing most of them now is that digital versions of the show have much higher quality than analog TV broadcast or VHS tapes did.

If you were watching it on a VHS tape from years ago, the wires wouldn't be as noticeable. But now that the video is more clear because it's digital, the wires are glaringly obvious.

I was just watching this episode the other day and my eye kept being drawn to that spot. I couldn't tell exactly what it was, but I knew it had to do with that arrow that was about to be shot!

I've really noticed the wires holding up Sam and/or Endora when they're float-sitting. I'm amazed that those wires held up two women, however slight they might be. High res. is a blessing and a curse!

This is a great screen capture of it! Really makes me laugh out loud that a print wall paper would have helped disguise it more. But little did they know we'd have HD TV and the ability to take screen captures like this when they were filming

They'd just be happy the show is still in syndication somewhere 50 years later

I love the campiness of the later seasons, and part of it is seeing how they did the special effects.

Sow's ears are not made into silk purses by the addition of a few dandelions, Samantha!
