Craig has a question for fellow Bewitched fans:
I remember thinking how great the kid was in "Just A Kid Again" and saw that episode again recently so had to look him up. Well the credit lists him as Richard Powell on that episode but as Ricky Powell on 2 other episodes. So on IMDB his credits show he is is 3 episodes of Bewitched. I went to find the other two and I have now come to the conclusion this is not the boy that played in this episode because this episode is in Season 6, Ricky Powell is in Season 7 and Season 8 and in both those episodes it is a younger child than the one in the Season 6 episode "Just a Kid Again". I heard an interview with Ricky where he said his first episode on Bewitched was "Mary the Good Fairy" and he commented that he was 7 yrs old. He also said when he watches it now how he was not good. I watched both the ones he was in and he was not very good like he said and only had improved just some in the Season 8 episode "Samantha's Magic Sitter". He has the dark hair coloring and a similar voice but that is not the same kid. THe Season 6 episode he is supposed to be a 9 yr old boy so now I am wondering who this is because I can tell that is not the same kid for he would not be older and then get younger. Just look at Tabitha. She is little in that episode but in the other 2 eps from Season 7 and 8 she is close in age to Ricky.
On your website you have the kids section and list 2 of these. You don't have the Season 8 one I dont believe. I really thought that actor was good but I am puzzled as to why they have very similar names or of they just got confused somehow because I really want to know who that actor is not for he was good. The one in the other 2 episodes is not outstanding and is younger so it is two different children. I don't know who the actor is, but you're right that young "Irving Bates" is not the same boy who appeared as Tabitha's friend Sidney, then Esmeralda's charge Ralphie Norton. "Irving" is older, and "Sidney/Ralphie"'s face is rounder. I agree, "Irving" was a very good child actor. He was very natural, which is not always an easy thing for a child actor to pull off!
Not that any of this answers the question of "Irving"'s identity. LOL Is it possible there were two Ricky Powells, or did someone doing up the end credits of "Just A Kid Again" (#193) make a boo-boo?
Hi Craig, Yes the Richard Powell from "Just a Kid Again" is a totally different person than the Ricky Powell from "Mary the Good Fairy" & "Samantha's Magic Sitter". IMDB is wrong. I discussed this sometime back with Ricky himself. Also a couple of years ago I researched to find Richard Powell, but with no success. It's been a while but you may have inspired me to try again. BTW Ricky this week has just retired from his 25 years with NBC and is now concentrating on his own business. A very nice man."Mommy, I only have little legs, for me this is hurry!!"
