Old message board posts

Back in the day (starting in 2000!) I used to go to the library after school and visit this website, often printing out longer conversations to take home and go over. I kept them with my “Bewitched” stuff over several moves, and 21 years later (!!!) I still have them, and am re-reading them now. Thank you Melanie and Bob for creating such a wonderful website and nice memories.

I miss the old days of the message board so much! Facebook is fine I guess, but the old board was a really special place.

Yeah, me too. Admittedly I’m one who let Facebook take up most of my time later too. But I also think social media sort of ruined the more unique parts of the Internet.

I remember when you were going to the library to read the site and post here. Didn't that start when your school put a block on the site? I remember filling out a form to get the site recognized by their censoring software as an educational site. The software company had us listed as entertainment because we had a few games. The start of my petitioning and protesting endeavors. Ha ha ha!But we did get the site unblocked by their firewall eventually.

Good question! I don’t remember. I do remember finding the site for the first time at the public library around October 2000 after school and being amazed. I don’t think we even had dial-up at home yet, though we might have (we’d use BlueLight internet from KMart).

I also remember several sites (possibly this one too) being blocked by BESS, the school censoring software, and a few of my friends and I figuring out ways around it. I guess that was the start of my “hacking” (if you can call it that!)

I miss them, too. There was a while there when this board was literally a lifeline for me. I will be forever grateful, and I hope this site is up and running as long as I am--and then some.
