If you run social for a small business, you have probably wanted to see what a competitor is posting to their TikTok story without following them from the company account and showing up in their viewer list.

The workaround most people use is a second phone or a burner account. There is a simpler one: browser-based story viewers. You type in the public username, the stories load in your browser, and because you never touch TikTok's own player you do not appear in the viewer list at all. No sign-up, nothing to install, and it works the same on desktop and phone.

Two practical notes if you try it:

1. Stories expire after 24 hours. If you want to keep something for a swipe file, save it while it is still up.
2. Private accounts stay private. Only public profiles show anything, so no tool can get you around that - ignore any that claim otherwise.
