Hopefully, the audiologist will find it. Has his heart, lungs, and brain been checked yet? They can all produce similar symptoms that you describe.
Too bad Christmas is already past. It sounds like Paul would benefit from a year of gym membership and you showing up two or three days a week to allow him to go work out since you say that he enjoys working out. If you can't swing the membership could several family members donate what they can toward it? We never know until we ask. Even the ladies here would probably be willing to help toward it what we can. I know I would, after all, we help family.
Does your dad use a rollator? If not he might benefit from one, or a walker. The hospital here has one of those upright walkers for people with balance problems but they tend to be a bit more pricy. If push comes to shove a scooter might benefit him and help him get out more again. Men won't use wheelchairs but often they like the scooters, though they say they won't use them, when they get them they get hooked. I don't know about how the system works in Canada but here our senior insurance Medicare pays for most or all of the cost of a scooter if prescribed by a physician.
