The way my flowers have bloomed in color sequences this year. It has never happened before.
My husband out puttering with his vegetables. He really missed it last year, I think. Getting things done at the lake house we just weern't here very often.
Discovering raised bed gardening. The soil was mostly poor where we needed to put a garden and we don't have much space. It is incredible how much we can grow and how little upkeep they need in a raised bed vs. row gardens. I am adding squash and cucumbers to the tomatoes and peppers we already have and maybe beans and okra. I have seeds for a green bean that gets as long as my arm and only a handful makes dinner. If we grow a 4X4 bed we have enough to eat all we want and to freeze or can some for winter.
The kids and grandkids love sweet corn, none of that store-bought field corn, thanks. Each year, we get enough to freeze from a friend. He grows about 100 acres of Peaches and Cream corn, hires local high schoolers to help work it and pick and sell it, donates all proceeds to youth programs in the area and his church. We like his corn and like helping support the youth of the area.
