I'm not even sure I can explain.
So they hired an attorney for $200,000. Several people pitched in. This attorney filed a habeas corpus and went to court to prove that he didn't get a fair trial. There really was a case to be made there after reviewing the trial.

After months of deliberation, the judge granted the habeas. The state didn't accept the decision and had it bumped up to the GA Supreme Court. The Court agreed with the findings that he didn't get a fair trial. At any point along the way, the state could have just said, fine, we're done. So at each juncture, Carin was sure he was getting out. The state had one more option and they've taken it. So far, it's a plea deal with a sentence of 40 years, serve 20. He has served 10 to date OR have a new trial. There is no money left for that. He was transferred from the prison to a local jail while all this last stuff is being hammered out. He will be returned to prison if nothing changes to serve the remaining 10 years. His attorney is still trying to get a better plea deal.

I don't know if he's guilty of getting oral.sex from one of his students or not. What I DO know is he is a horrible, horrible human being who treats my niece like a dog and she keeps trying, saying God hates divorce. There is no one who supports this relationship, even clergy. I have spent hours and hours going over all of this with her. Not sure where it will end up.
