Come to find out while she was here my mother had my husband order some dog food and use that card. It was in with her meds when she was talking to him and she used it before she gave it back to me instead of getting up and going to get hers. She thought since it was a one time thing, he checked out as a guest, that there would be no problems. It wouldn't be on file to get stolen. Well, it was on file in the background and got stolen at the same time as my husband's card last September. There were even more charges Sept-December that she didn't notice and the bank couldn't access. They now have a total and she will be issued a check since the debit card has been cancelled. It took days because to hear Amazon tell it the first few times I called there was no such number on file with them. My husband finally called the fraud dept that he had to deal with when his card was hacked and got answers and actions at last. At least this has been a few lessons for her; never use a debit card online or anywhere it leaves where she can see it, always check those statements for all charges instead of just looking at the balance and tossing, keep a file of the past statements. She thought because she shredded those statements that she was doing a good job of protecting herself.
