When the washer flooded at the lake, just turning off the machine didn't help. I called my husband to turn off the water behind the machine because I couldn't reach it. He just stood in the hall yelling at me in panic that he didn't know where the main cut-off was. I told him again to turn the faucets off, and it would probably take care of it. When he walked closer, he found that the drain hose had not been properly inserted into the drain, so it was all running out on the floor. I couldn't see that, and we had already had trouble with the faucet, having to replace parts. When he got the hose replaced correctly, we had no problem other than an inch of water on the floor. I was just grateful that we had not replaced that floor yet. I can't imagine what was going through your head since you have new floors. He grabbed a few shop towels and thought he was going to get it all up. I just started throwing the dirty laundry around because it was at hand. He then went and got all the clean towels and threw them down. There was a shop vac sitting in the hall outside the door, but the towels worked, even though before they got washed and dried, he decided that he wanted to take a shower and got mad because there were no towels to use. He just gets so confused, panics, and can not think in those kinds of situations these days. He can fix things, but he just can't think quickly.
I hope that all your flooring is okay and that it didn't hurt anything else.
