Not just what are your ideas or plans to 'never do that again'. She wanted it to mean something. If you purchase a small package of baby diapers to keep on hand, one pressed over a wet spot draws it right out quickly before it can sink in much if you get to it immediately. Baking soda and water in a spray bottle sprayed on the rest can draw it out and stop it from staining. Or you can get My Pet Peed. Spray it on and leave it overnight. Smell and stains disappear. It's kinda pricy but it works.
