Although I didn't mean that you had to live on one paycheck, it is wonderful that you can, and you are saving yours for that rainy day. Now you know that you COULD retire any moment if you had to and make it. That should be a comforting thought. It also means that if something happened to one of you, the other would be ok. So many couples can live off their social security together, but when something happens to one of them, they can't pay all the bills with just one check. I am so glad that the experiment worked for you and that you now have some extra money in the bank.
Retirement, when it is all you do, can get boring. Take up or revisit a hobby or a sideline job that you can continue to do to stimulate your mind.
